Darcy B in Year 5 entered the Country Child Magazine writing competition about a ‘Winter’ themed story in 400 words.
Darcy’s story ‘In The Snow’ captured the judges imagination and this is what they said :-
Thank you so much for sending us your brilliant story, In the Snow. All of us here at Country Child absolutely loved it. In fact, we loved it SO much that we’ve selected you as the WINNER in the Somerset category. We asked our head judge and brilliant author, Olivia Tuffin, to give us her thoughts on why she particularly liked your story, above all the others. This is what she wrote;
“Hurrah – a non-princess princess! Great character Darcy, I liked that Sapphire was independent and adventurous and even had an emergency kit in her backpack for helping the baby bear cub. A great adventure.”
Well done Darcy we are all so proud of you here at Hazlegrove. Over the next few weeks a parcel from ‘Smiggle’ will be making its way to you, full of lovely things for you to enjoy.
